Gemini 3 scanned photo to sketch in fusion 360

 20260218

I decided to make my essai,
1. prepare the scanned photo.
to minize the angle issues with camera, I plan to use the scanned function of my cannon printer.

I first try to put whole car on the scanner, and a ruler as reference
the result is terrible

adding some light on top to increase the visiblity

better, maybe good for hand tracking in fusion 360. but not easy for sw treatement.

I took down the chass part, put it flat on scanner

The problem is that scanner has it's own light source, slight advance of the scanner unit, since this has about 1.5mm thickness, it create shadow on parts, you can see the round hole is not round. and some shadow on edages.
I enhanced the black and put it into fusion 360: import as canvas, then using project salvado to create sketch. I found out that the rule in the image file will make it impossible to create sketch, so I redo a scan without ruler.

It does work, but some problem shows.

the round one is not round, and the scanned edage is not always connected.
also some spot show up on the unwanted parts, too much to do for hand adjustment.

Lesson learned:
1. make silhoutte to clear the edage.
2. need a back light on scanner to counter out the shadow.

Since the top cover is white, I place a long led flash and shine on the white cover

it seems to be ok for clear the shadow, the round is almost "round"

I truned to gemini 3

Looks pretty good, but it does not do dxf file nor svg file, so, I asked it to clear the frame. the down load as png file
looks pretty!

put the image file to some free web for svg file. and insert to fusion 360
good, every thing goes well, need to scale it to right dimension.
